The Beginning

The Man Who Dreamt in Silk

Our story began with Moolchand Ji, the man who dreamt in silk, and his grandfather Ushnakmal Ji — a duo bound by vision, artistry, and legacy.

Together, they founded Ushnakmal Moolchand, not merely as a business, but as a tribute to Banaras’ timeless handloom tradition.

From their shared dream was born a heritage that has flowed through generations — each thread carrying their belief that a saree is not just woven, it is brought to life.

The Legacy of Craft

A Heritage Woven Through Generations

RESA by Ushnakmals
is more than a brand — it is a living legacy, woven through eight generations of passion, craftsmanship, and heritage.

Our journey began in the late 1800s in Lahore, when Ushnakmal Moolchand laid the foundation of a humble handloom house devoted to purity of silk and perfection of weave.

What started as devotion to craft soon became a symbol of India’s most exquisite textile traditions — adored by royalty, brides, and connoisseurs of art.

The Homecoming

Banaras – The Eternal Loom

In the 1940s, the family moved to Varanasi, the eternal city that became home to their artistry.

Here, their legacy intertwined with the soul of Banarasi weaving — blending centuries-old techniques with timeless elegance.

Every weave, every motif, and every thread carries the story of generations who lived by the loom.

The Modern Chapter

Where Heritage Meets Modern Elegance

Today, under the vision of Vindhya Tandon, RESA by Ushnakmals continues to weave the threads of legacy into a new era of design and expression.

With a deep respect for her family’s century-old craftsmanship, Vindhya reimagines Banarasi artistry through a modern lens — blending traditional motifs with contemporary silhouettes.

Each creation reflects her belief that true luxury lies not in excess, but in essence — in the feel of hand-spun silk, the shimmer of real zari, and the quiet pride of wearing a garment infused with heritage.

RESA is her ode to the woman who embraces her roots yet charts her own path — fluid, confident, and effortlessly graceful.
